I received a copy of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion, thoughts and feelings. So, here goes...

Broken Beauty is an emotionally difficult book to read. It deals with a teenage girl who was drugged, then raped and it begins telling her story. In this introductory novella, you get enough information that you feel you may know this young lady and her family. You will be able to start forming your opinion of this young girl and you will probably have every desire to find her and protect her. You will also want to hunt down the political father and choke him! As a parent, I am beyond angry with the neglect from this young ladies parents and other family members.

I give this book a 4.5 star rating.

I feel the author done an amazing job describing the emotional and mental turmoil a rape victim goes through. I believe she accurately states the battle one faces in trying to decide what to do next. The author also accurately describes how law enforcement and the judicial system work to get compliance.

My neglecting 1/2 star, would be based upon the shortness of this story (I realize it is a novella), the over use of the term "daddy" and the fact that it ended abruptly. This would be hands down a 5 star book if it was the complete story of Mia. I would not discredit the author's over use of the word "daddy" if it were complete.

I personally am not a huge fan of "novellas" as I do not feel we as readers get the whole point in most cases that the author is trying to make and in some cases I feel the author ends up hurting themselves overall, because readers forget parts of the stories, forget release dates, are in the middle of other things, etc.

I will keep a close eye on this particular short story series because I am very eager to know what happens next. I will recommend this book to others with the warning of "It's not complete." Meaning there are more parts to be released. Once the remaining novellas are released and the story is complete, I believe it will have great potential in helping other victims. I think they will see they are not the only ones feeling the way they do, and they will understand that it is normal for victims to be confused and afraid. I think this book may help non victims to understand what victims go through.

Overall, I feel the author is amazing for having the ability to write this book and for giving others knowledge that so many other people can benefit from.
